Harold and Dixie LePere Breast Health Center Recognized for Achieving NAPBC Accreditation

Only NAPBC accredited center in the metro-east

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC,) a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has granted a three-year full accreditation with no deficiencies to the Harold and Dixie LePere Breast Health Center in Shiloh.

To achieve voluntary NAPBC accreditation, a breast center demonstrates compliance with 28 NAPBC standards that look at a center’s leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.  Breast centers seeking NAPBC accreditation undergo a site visit every three years.  Memorial’s breast center received its first accreditation in 2016 making it the only NAPBC accredited center in the metro-east.

“It’s a great accomplishment to receive this accreditation from the NAPBC,” said Dr. James Clanahan, breast surgeon with Lincoln Surgical Associates and medical director of the Harold and Dixie LePere Breast Health Center at Memorial.  “It affirms our dedication to provide those in our area with exceptional breast health services.”

As a NAPBC-accredited center, the Harold and Dixie LePere Breast Health Center is committed to maintaining levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease.  Patients receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center have access to information on clinical trials and new treatments, genetic counseling, and patient centered services including psycho-social support, and a survivorship care plan that documents the care each patient receives and seeks to improve cancer survivor’s quality of life.

“We are extremely proud to be re-accredited by NAPBC,” said Mark J. Turner, Memorial Regional Health Services president.  “This accreditation validates the commitment of our physicians as well as Memorial’s staff to provide exceptional breast health services to our patients.”
